Come to Turin, a fascinating city steeped in history, culture and traditions. Taking a stroll through its streets will allow you to discover all its treasures: Piazza Castello, the heart of the city, featuring “Palazzo Reale” (the “Royal Palace”), Palazzo Madama and the “Duomo” (“Cathedral”) with the Cupola of Guarini, the home of the Turin Shroud. Then there is Via Po, with its numerous shops, and Piazza Vittorio, guarded at one end by the neoclassical “Chiesa della Gran Madre” (“Church of the Great Mother”).
Turin is also rich in museums, and there really is something to cater for all tastes. The Egyptian Museum houses the second biggest collection in the world after Cairo, while the National Cinema Museum provides 167 metres of fun in the towering and evocative Mole Antonelliana, symbol of the city.
There are also several prestigious contemporary art galleries including the Gallery of Modern Art (GAM), Palazzo Bricherasio and the Giovanni & Marella Agnelli Picture Gallery, featuring an extraordinary patrimony inherited from the Royal House of Savoy as well as many other treasures.
Also not to be missed is the Stupinigi Hunting Lodge in Nichelino, a bold piece of architecture erected in 1729 according to a design by Filippo Juvarra, originally used as a base for the Savoy’s hunting expeditions. To satisfy all your curiosity, you can purchase the Torino Card: valid for 48 or 72 hours, it will give you free admission to 120 museums, monuments, castles, fortresses and royal residences in Turin and Piedmont, as well as free access to the TurismoBus Torino and all the city’s public transport services, plus much more besides.
